Instagram has introduced some new enhancements to its Reminder Ads feature, which allow users to choose to receive reminders about upcoming releases, events, and more. Previously, Reminder Ads were limited to in-feed placement, but Instagram is now extending Reminder promotions to Stories. Furthermore, you can now craft Reminder Ads directly within Ads Manager, eliminating the need to post organically and then boost the post with a paid push.

In my last addition I spoke about the introduction of broadcast channels to Instagram. After these proved to be a success, Meta has introduced broadcast channels to Facebook and Messenger. It will be interesting to see whether they are as much of a success as they have been (so far) on Instagram…

YouTube’s Testing a New Shorts Discovery Option

YouTube is trialling a random feed prompt, for when a user doesn’t know what to watch. This new feature could be comparable to TikTok’s for you page in some ways. The prompt will lead a user to shorts, the clips it shows are based on the specific users watch history, likes and subscriptions. It seems as though this implementation might be YouTubes way of inspiring users to still come to YouTube even when they don’t have a specific focus in mind.

LinkedIn Updates Collaborative Articles

LinkedIn is revamping the design of Collaborative Articles to place more emphasis on user contributions. The platform will now prominently feature contributors at the top of the post and has refined the in-stream display format. This updated format reduces the prominence of the AI prompt to give contributors more visibility. LinkedIn has also enhanced the quality of its AI prompts for articles, aiming to deliver more comprehensive and engaging outcomes. I think that this update could see a rise in engagement with the collaborative article feature.

TikTok is Experimenting With 15-Minute Uploads

Some TikTok users are now being informed that they can upload 15 minute videos. TikTok previously had a 10 minute video limit so it seems as though they are trying to branch out into even longer form content. This would allow TikTok to expand on ad potential (mid roll ads etc), so it makes sense. However, it is debatable whether TikTok users will actually want to interact with this feature.

X has been a hot topic in recent months, with its complete rebrand from Twitter and takeover by Elon musk. There has been extremely mixed opinions from users on whether these changes have been positive but a new study from Apptopia suggests not. Big Technology said: “Since Musk bought the company in October 2022, it’s lost approximately 13% of its daily active users. And its rebrand from Twitter to X accelerated the decline.” There has been lots of conflicting data around X’s usage decline, so it may take a bit longer until we can be certain on whether the rebrand and takeover has been positive.
