Have you noticed your TikTok feed is a bit quieter? After failure to reach a renewal deal, all of Universal Music Group’s music has been removed from the app. UMG has a market share of around 32%, so this is huge news. Whilst not ideal for content creators, most of the sounds that got removed will have a sped-up version etc somewhere on the app that you can replace the original with to get around the music ban!

Instagram Tests New Feature to Preview Feed Before Publishing

Instagram is testing a new feature that allows users to view their posts in the grid before posting. Personally, I think this will be a really useful and popular feature. Especially as so many brands and creators have such meticulously curated feeds. This could make maintaining a theme or consistent branding a lot easier.

LinkedIn’s Engagement Shoots Up – All Thanks To AI

LinkedIn is now up to one billion members and the good news is – engagement still remains high. With new AI elements helping to drive more usage. LinkedIn has so much potential for brands to utilise, and the platform is only getting bigger! However, itโ€™s worth noting that in LinkedIn’s engagement reports (by Microsoft), these users are not reported as active so this number likely includes dormant accounts too.

X Developing Long-Form Text Posts

A lot of the news on X has been really negative since Elon Muskโ€™s takeover. However, I think this feature could be really valuable if a success. It allows creators to share more and opens up the possibilities for informative content on X which isn’t really possible currently, due to the character limits. Still not enough to put any significant time into X – but worth knowing nonetheless!

TikTok Search Shortcut

TikTok is prompting some users to download a dedicated search shortcut to their home screens. If you had any doubts that TikTok was trying to solidify as a search engine too, this should erase them. If you use TikTok as a search engine (which 49% of users say they do), then this feature makes the process a lot quicker. I am interested to see over the next few years whether that percentage goes up.
